Propose a Walk
Jane’s Walk is a festival of neighbors leading walks that spark conversation, ideas and relationships.
We can’t do it without all kinds of people who live in and love Aquidneck Island. Have an idea for a walk? Fill out this form and we’ll be in touch.
General Guidelines for Walks:
Walks should be of your neighborhood and community. We trust you to define what that means.
While tours are great, a Jane’s Walk is a walking conversation. Rather than offering histories and facts, focus on questions and observations that support our future.
Walks can be literally walking outdoors, but they can also be conversations that don’t travel, bike rides, exploring public indoor spaces, or any number of ideas. We’d love to hear your outside-the-box idea.
Jane Jacobs asked us to look at our cities as intertwining systems and we are producing this festival in order to intertwine. We ask anyone who leads a walk to join another walk in a supportive capacity. We’ll do the matchmaking, but ask that you only propose a walk if you’re prepared to support another walk.
Walks are volunteer-led, free-of-charge and under 90 min. We do not allow hate speech or campaigning for any current ballot issue.
We are accepting walk proposals through March 16, 2025. We will organize group meetings for walk leaders in April as we prepare for the festival.
